Issaquah is a vibrant, growing community nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains.  It is located approximately 17 miles east of downtown Seattle and eight miles from Bellevue and Redmond.  Issaquah is located at the intersection of Interstate 90 and State Route 900, which affords commuters easy access to neighboring communities.  Approximately 40 percent of the state's population is located within a 40-mile radius of Issaquah.

Established in 1892, Issaquah now encompasses about 12.49 square miles and is home to 33,330 people, however it still very much feels like a small town.  Much of Issaquah's growth has occurred since 1990, thanks a housing boom led by construction in the Issaquah Highlands and Talus urban villages.  All of the homes located in the Highlands feature Built Green standards and Talus is surrounded by four hundred acres of protected open space. The City is committed to preserving its heritage and natural surroundings, while managing a careful plan for growth and business opportunity.

Many businesses have been drawn to the community including Costco's international headquarters. Swedish Hospital, Siemens, GE Healthcare, and Microsoft have employees in Issaquah.  In the future, growth will continue as Issaquah accommodates a state-mandated target of an additional 3,916 housing units and 17,517 jobs by 2031.

Quality education is also a core value to the residents of Issaquah, over the past 10 years the Issaquah School District has raised over $150 million dollars to offer its students the best in facilities, technology and staff.

Issaquah's natural beauty can be experienced in a multitude of ways. The "Issaquah Alps" provide over 200 miles of hiking trails. Just minutes of downtown, hikers can leave their everyday worries for outdoor adventures on Cougar Mountain, Squak Mountain and Tiger Mountain. Swimmers, boaters, jet skiers and picnickers enjoy nearby Lake Sammamish State Park. Skiers, snowboarders and inner tube enthusiasts enjoy the quick 30 minute commute to Snoqualmie Pass Resort.
